Brent and Tawnie Sleep are the third generation of the family to live in this wonderful lakeshore setting, originally purchased in 1936 by Brent’s grandparents, William F. and Frances Hamilton Sleep. The price they paid- $75.00 each for the three 50′ lakefront lots- was not easy to scrape together during those depression years. Brent and Tawnie’s vision for the property and cabins is not too unlike the enterprise Wm. Sleep had in mind when he bought the property. His original idea was to build a restaurant and rental cabin resort, capitalizing on the pristine lakeshore beauty and featuring hearty home-cooked meals. Knowing full well who would be in the kitchen, Grandma Sleep put her foot down on that idea. Her interests were raising her two sons, horticulture and civic betterment. While Grandma’s vision for the family property did not include slaving over a wood cook stove, she was not opposed to the idea of rental cabins. After all, she grew up in the boarding house her grandparents built in Sandpoint, the four-story Superior Apartments, still in use today.
